The position of Head of Year holds great importance within the School. It requires a deep understanding of Glennie's vision and culture, as well as the way in which girls learn and develop. Additionally, the Head of Year must be knowledgeable about the factors that enable each student to reach their full potential and be all she can be.The main responsibility of the Head of Year is to create programs that facilitate personal growth, strong friendships, a sense of community, academic achievement, and leadership skills within the year group. To accomplish this, the Head of Year must recognize and respond to the unique needs of each individual student, while also collaborating with other Heads of Year to ensure that all students receive academic and pastoral support.Key Responsibilites:To set a tone within the cohort that reflects the ethos of the school.Ensure that students abide by the Student Code of Conduct and other School expectations.Develop relationships of trust by being a Student Protection Officer and be accountable by completing the annual ASC SPO training.Develop a program across the year for timetabled Wellbeing classes that address the needs of the year group that may include guest speakers, disseminating information and be a forum for discussion. Organise targeted activities for the year group including activities such as camp, dinners, incursions, socials etc Hold regular meetings with SRC members to assist them in fulfilling their duties.Via relevant means, including SEQTA and meetings, communicate relevant information to staff and update and maintain student pastoral and academic records.Monitor academic progress through SEQTA, examination and other assessment results and reports, including longitudinal tracking. Frequently track and monitor student absences and liaise with families to support students through extended absences.Provide pastoral care and support while promoting positive wellbeing at both individual and group levels.Other dutiesParticipate in school functions and carry out supervisory duties as required.Engage in professional reading and development as part of an expectation of continual professional learning.Participate in department meetings and whole staff meetings.
