This includes all aspects of learning, teaching, assessment, monitoring and curriculum development within the department, in harmony with the aims, philosophy, and strategic direction of the School. The Head of Department - English and Languages has the responsibility to manage staff, to be a role model to both staff and students, and to mentor teachers.We are seeking to appoint a capable and dynamic Head of Department - English and Languages, with a deep knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA syllabus, and the capacity to lead staff in the development and implementation of English and Language programs and projects.Key Responsibilities:You will be responsible for the leadership of teachers and the day-to-day management and coordination of the English and Languages Department. This includes managing change, developing teacher capacity and enhancing the interest and capability of girls from Years 7-12. The Head of Department - English and Languages role is a full-time, fixed-term position commencing in Term 2 2024. The teacher component of this position is a permanent position. Responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:providing leadership in articulating, developing and committing to a shared educational vision for the Schoolsetting goals for department performance and track achievement against these goals over timedeveloping and submitting an annual department budget and operational plan in response to the School’s strategic plandeveloping and leading excellence in learning, teaching, assessment, monitoring and Curriculumdeveloping and overseeing enrichment opportunities for students within the department’s teaching and learning areasensuring the subject curriculum is compliant with the National and State curriculums, developmentally appropriate and aligned with Year 7-12ensuring the curriculum is current, quality-assured and accessible to department staff, students and parents, as appropriatesupporting teachers in conjunction with learning support staff where appropriate to differentiate the curriculum to reflect the needs, interests and abilities of students in the subject areasupporting teachers to implement Individual Education Programs in conjunction with learning support staff where appropriateoverseeing the planning, preparation and review of courses and work programs in accordance with changes to National and State syllabus documentsleading the development and engagement of learning resources in the departmentexemplifying exceptional teaching practices for optimal student learningparticipating in decision-making processes including overall curriculum planning and developmentactively promoting and implementing these goals, priorities and policies.About You:The successful applicant must be supportive of the ethos of Anglican Schools and must either be eligible for teacher registration or have registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
