The Glennie School is an Anglican school for girls in Toowoomba, providing an exceptional education for Kindergarten to Year 12 students with boarding from Year 5.  The School enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its programs, care and support offered to students, as well as the commitment, dedication, and professionalism of its staff.About the role:The Accountant is responsible for providing professional accounting support to assist the Business Manager in delivering excellence in financial management to the School consistent with its strategic and operational objectives.The role involves the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual management and statutory financial reporting. In addition, the Accountant will assist with the preparation and operation of School budgets, and perform some project work inclusive of financial feasibility studies that are targeted to realise opportunities to consistently develop and improve organisational and financial processes.Key Responsibilities:Preparing and reporting of monthly financial accounts.Preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial reports including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statements for management, governance and government reporting requirements.Management of discounts, bursaries and scholarships, and associated reporting.Ensuring at all times the integrity of the financial records.Preparing all bank reconciliations.Monitoring and managing cash flow.Ensure the integrity of the General Ledger including monthly reconciliations.Maintaining the Chart of Accounts.Preparing and reviewing journals.Assess, initiate and implement systems and procedures to meet audit schedules in connection with the annual audit or as required.Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget including the formulation of the general administration budget.Reviewing Actual to Budget results on a monthly or as required basis, reporting reasons for variance to the Business Manager.Handling departmental queries for budget expenditure.Complying with the legal obligations of an educational organisation.Completing, lodging, and paying quarterly BAS statements for the ATO.Completing annual FBT Returns for ATO.Advising the Business Manager on ongoing FBT and GST issues and implications.About you:Bachelor level degree with a major in accounting.Membership of a professional accounting body, or working towards (eg CPA or CA).Have a paid Working with Children blue card prior to commencement.At least 5 years’ experience in financial and staff management is preferableWorking knowledge and understanding of TASS software (preferred but not essential).Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.Intermediate to advanced skills in Google/Microsoft Office suite.Excellent verbal and written communication.Excellent time management skills and able to meet deadlines.Capacity to manage multiple tasks.Ability to work autonomously.Demonstration of initiative, flexibility, and discretion.Capacity to recognise and maintain confidentiality.Your Application:Please address your application to the Business Manager and include a cover letter, CV (include current Working With Children Check blue card details), and the names and email addresses of two referees.Applications close by COB Friday, 26 July 2024.
